There are quite a few KK38 here in the marina and having looked at them in detail they are very solid boats. The big problem with leaking, which they all seem to have, is not that they are damaging interior wood work but, more importantly, that they are damaging wooden bulkheads. A number of KK38s here have had to do some serious bulkhead rebuilds and that is no easy task. The samson post leaks on these boats and ends up destroying the forward bulkhead. If you decide on this boat find a boat builder (not a surveyor) to look over the boat.

I came across this video because a female friend who is a new sailor is buying a used Cruisair drop-in (they now are out of production). As I recall, the drop-ins were not all that great but it is probably the easiest short-term solution for her ar present. I have an 8000 Btu window unit mounted in a vertical hatch on my catamaran which works very well to cool the salon but less so in the areas down in the hulls, although it does dehumidify the entire interior. Like you, I sealed the space around the hatch with split swim noodles for a relatively airtight fit. The biggest improvement to efficiency came from painting the salon cabin-top with white Kiwi-Grip. All of the original non-skid was painted pale gray but not pale enough! I shot the inside of the overhead with a laser thermometer in locations where there was still gray non-skid as well as the white Kiwi-Gripped overhead. There was a 25 degree F difference.

If you have pine trees you have fat lighter. Its just the heart wood that filled with sap. Down at the base is the best stuff. We use it all the time for camping. I'll have to remember to bring some to the Bahamas ! 😁👍

Could you lift the dinghy transom in the center with a halyard and then it should be easier to spin it upright? Perhaps another line on the bow eye as well.

Agreed whole heartedly, I sail for pleasure, not pain. My boat is great up to 15 knts wind and over 20 I think "Why did I go out today?"

What I see a lot is that most cruisers don't know that the boat has a load limit, I have seen then far from home with the bootstripe a foot under water. And don't get me started on jerry cans on the deck.

Digging the bimini. Spending this past weekend sailing my H23 on Keowee made me really want to find a bimini for her. We got roasted. But with my boom being as low as it is I'm not sure how I'd go about finding one for it

Saw one of these basic units previously , the spin cycle is the most important part needed! Ideally like all appliances it needs a permanent location so it can be used when every you like. Tricky on a boat of course! I actually say 40! Years ago a front loading washer with spinning cycle all plastic basic unit my boss at the boat company in South Africa I was working at get all excited about …..
